How to Keep Your Wibit SportsPark Safe, Clean and Long-Lasting
A clean SportsPark isn’t just nicer to look at – it’s also safer for your guests and keeps your equipment in great shape for years to come. Regular cleaning and a smart maintenance routine are part of what makes a professional operation stand out. Here’s how you can keep your Wibit SportsPark in top condition all season long.
Daily Habits That Make a Big Difference
Before your guests arrive, take a few minutes to check under the modules. Removing loose algae with a sponge helps prevent the growth of stubborn algae or barnacles that can damage the products and create sharp edges. Another small but important daily routine: rinse all buoyancy aids with fresh water after use. This prevents salt or chlorine build-up and keeps them clean, comfortable, and ready for the next guests.
Understanding Algae Growth
How often your park needs a deeper clean depends on its location. Parks in warm, calm waters need more frequent cleaning, while those in colder climates may get by with seasonal checks.
Acting early is key:
- First, green algae appear – still easy to remove.
- Left untreated, they develop into black algae – much harder to clean.
- Later, red algae and barnacles may form – difficult to remove and potentially dangerous for guests.
By making quick daily checks and light cleaning part of your routine, you can usually prevent these problems altogether.
Seasonal & Annual Maintenance
At least once a year, remove the entire SportsPark from the water for a deep cleaning. This is also the perfect moment to check ropes, straps, and connectors, and replace any worn parts. Regular cleaning not only keeps your SportsPark looking great, but also protects your investment by extending the lifespan of your equipment.
The Right Tools for the Job
Using proper cleaning equipment is vital to the sustained performance and longevity of your Wibit SportsPark. Here’s what we recommend:
Wibit PVC Cleaner
A highly efficient cleaner designed to remove lime scale, algae, and weather-related dirt and stains from the bottom of the products.
Never use strong detergents such as acid, mineral spirit, or silicone-based cleaners.
Wibit PVC Care & Protection
A concentrated product that removes dirt from the top and conserves the bottom of the modules after cleaning with the PVC Cleaner.
- Dilute with water as indicated on the product label.
- Rinse the surface with clear water, apply the mixture with a sponge, rinse again, and dry with a soft cloth.
Pressure Washer with Rotating Nozzle
Use a washer with at least 200 bar / 2900 psi and a rotating nozzle.
- Begin cleaning from a safe distance.
- Keep at least 30 cm (12 in) between nozzle and surface.
- Hold at a 45° angle.
Barnacles that formed during the season can only be removed effectively this way.
Wibit Cleaning Sponge
Equipped with a handle, it’s strong enough to remove algae and dirt but soft enough to protect PVC surfaces.
Protective Equipment
Always wear gloves, protective clothing, and eye/face protection when working with cleaning products.
How to Perform a Thorough Cleaning
The best time for cleaning is early morning or late evening, when the park is closed and surfaces are cooler.
Step 1 – Bringing Products Ashore
- Carefully bring modules to the shore.
- If anchored, disconnect the bungee cord and attach it to a marking buoy.
Step 2 – Transport and Handling
- Remove connector straps and carry the products – never drag them.
- Place a protective tarp underneath to prevent abrasion or punctures.
Step 3 – Basic Cleaning with a Pressure Washer
- Use a rotating nozzle at safe distance (min. 30 cm).
- Work at a 45° angle for best results.
- For barnacle residue, use the washer first, then apply PVC Cleaner.
Step 4 – Deep Cleaning
- For stubborn residue, use the PVC Cleaner with a sponge.
- After rinsing, apply PVC Care & Protection to maintain the material.
Step 5 – Environmental Considerations
Always use environmentally friendly products and dispose of wastewater responsibly according to local regulations.
